CPUC HOLDS PUBLIC PARTICIPATION HEARINGS ON
GOLDEN STATE WATER'S RATE INCREASE REQUEST

SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 22, 2011 -- The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) will hold Public Participation Hearings regarding Golden State Water Company's rate increase request.

The dates and locations of the Public Participation Hearings are as follows:

Public Participation Hearings are scheduled to provide the public an opportunity to comment on Golden State Water Company's request. Comments from the public can help the CPUC reach an informed decision, and consumers are encouraged to attend. The CPUC is interested in comments about the rate application and any aspect of Golden State Water Company's operations, customer service, or other issues related to the company.

Written comments may be submitted to: CPUC Public Advisor, 505 Van Ness Ave., Room 2103, San Francisco, CA 94102 or via email to public.advisor@cpuc.ca.gov. Please refer to Golden State Water Company's Application number A.11-07-017 on any written or email correspondence. All public comments received are provided to the CPUC's Commissioners and the Administrative Law Judge assigned to the case.

Privately owned water companies in California cannot increase their rates without CPUC approval. Golden State Water Company filed its Application with the CPUC to request permission to raise its rates, stating that increases are necessary to meet its goals to ensure a safe and reliable source of supply, improve infrastructure, and to promote the efficient use of water.

For more information about this case, including proposed new rates, please see www.cpuc.ca.gov/PPH.

While a quorum of Commissioners and/or their staff may attend the Public Participation Hearings, no official action will be taken.

If specialized accommodations are needed, such as sign language interpreters, please contact the CPUC's Public Advisor's Office at public.advisor@cpuc.ca.gov or toll free at 866-849-8390.
