PUC MOVES CLOSER TO STATE'S RENEWABLE ENERGY GOAL WITH APPROVAL OF PG&E CONTRACT
SAN FRANCISCO, November 16, 2007 - The California Public Utilities Commission (PUC) today approved a new wind contract for Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) that contributes to the statewide target of 20 percent renewables by 2010. The table below provides a brief explanation of the project:

PPM Klondike III |

Through its Power Purchase Agreement with PPM Klondike III, PG&E will procure 38 percent of the wind facility's total capacity, approximately 85 megawatts, and PG&E will accept deliveries equal to approximately 265 gigawatt hours of energy per year. The intermittent generation of this wind project will be firmed and shaped by PPM Energy, Inc., which will deliver energy in 7x24 blocks to PG&E, thus increasing the value to PG&E's customers.
The project is from PG&E's 2006 Renewables Portfolio Standard Solicitation, and represents the first out-of-state facility to achieve commercial operation and contribute to a California utility's renewable energy targets.
The PUC's Renewables Portfolio Standard Program requires investor-owned utilities, Energy Service Providers, and Community Choice Aggregators operating in California to obtain 20 percent of their retail sales from renewable energy sources by 2010.
