Commissioner Rachelle B. Chong Announces
Robert Haga as  Telecommunications and Legal Advisor

CPUC Commissioner Rachelle B. Chong announced the hiring of Robert Haga as her Telecommunications and Legal Advisor, effective March 13, 2006. This final hire completes Commissioner Chong's permanent staff.

Mr. Haga was most recently Vice President of Strategic Planning and USAC Operations at the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) in Washington D.C. where he was responsible for managing the daily operations of USAC as well as providing strategic and operational advice to the company. Mr. Haga joined USAC in 1998 as its third employee. During his seven years with USAC, he was responsible for a broad range of issues, including the high cost and low income support mechanisms, financial issues, information technology, and company audits. Prior to joining USAC, Mr. Haga served as the Director of Government Relations for the National Exchange Carrier Association, Inc. (NECA) where he managed its Washington D.C. operations and represented NECA before state and federal policymakers. He has also worked at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) as a Legal Intern for FCC Commissioner Chong and as a Law Clerk at the Department of Energy. He holds a J.D. from U.C. Hastings College of the Law and a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Columbia University.
