The Communications Division assists the Commission in developing and implementing policies to promote competition in all telecommunications markets and to address regulatory changes required by state and federal legislation.
The Division's ongoing role is to help the Commission in ensuring the provision of telecommunications networks where there is a large number of competing providers using a variety of technologies; ensuring fair, affordable, universal access to necessary services, with special emphasis on preserving universal access; developing clear rules of the game and regulatory tools to allow flexibility without compromising due process; removing barriers that prevent a fully competitive market; and reducing or eliminating burdensome regulation.
