RESOLUTION T-16305. CONQUEST OPERATOR SERVICES CORP. (U-5294-C). REQUEST FOR VOLUNTARY REVOCATION OF CERTIFICATE OF PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY.

_________________________________________________________________

SUMMARY

This resolution revokes the Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN) held by ConQuest Operator Services Corp., as requested by the company.

BACKGROUND

ConQuest Operator Services Corp. filed for authority to operate as an interexchange carrier in Application 92-05-039. Authority was granted in Decision 92-10-037. The company filed its tariff on October 5, 1993, and the tariff became effective on October 4, 1993. The company applied for intraLATA authority in Application 97-05-030, and this authority was granted in Decision 97-08-006. The company currently has no customers.

DISCUSSION

ConQuest Operator Services Corp. sent a letter to the Commission dated March 17, 1999, in which it requested that its CPCN be revoked. There is no reason to deny this request since there are numerous competitors in the long distance market.

Telecommunications Division recommends that the request for revocation be granted and that the company's Utility Identification Number be cancelled.

This is an uncontested matter in which the resolution grants the relief requested. Accordingly, pursuant to PU Code 311 (g)(2), the 30-day period for public review and comment is being waived.

FINDINGS

1. ConQuest Operator Services Corp. obtained its Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity in Decision 92-10-037 and its intraLATA authority in Decision 97-08-006.

2. The company requested that its CPCN be revoked in a letter to the Commission dated March 17, 1999.

THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED that:

1. The Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity granted to ConQuest Operator Services Corp. is revoked.

2. The company's Utility Identification Number, U-5294-C, is cancelled and will not be reissued.

This Resolution is effective today.

I hereby certify that this Resolution was adopted by the Public Utilities Commission at its regular meeting on June 24, 1999. The following Commissioners approved it:
