PUC APPROVES FOUR RENEWABLE POWER CONTRACTS FOR SDG&E, CONTRIBUTING TO CLEAN ENERGY GOALS
SAN FRANCISCO, March 15, 2007 - The California Public Utilities Commission (PUC) today approved four renewable power contracts for San Diego Gas and Electric Company (SDG&E), contributing to the statewide target of utilities obtaining 20 percent of their power from renewable sources by 2010.

In 2010, the contracts are expected to deliver approximately 500 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of energy, about 3 percent of SDG&E's expected 2010 total retail sales, with approximately another 1 percent delivering from the contracts in 2011.
Each contract's price is at or below the Market Price Referent.
California has the most ambitious renewable goals in the country. The state's Renewables Portfolio Standard Program requires Investor-Owned Utilities, Energy Service Providers, and Community Choice Aggregators operating in California to obtain 20 percent of their retail sales from renewable energy sources by 2010.
The draft proposal is available on the PUC's website at http://www.cpuc.ca.gov/Published/Comment_resolution/65072.htm.
