expected to use up all available prefixes by March 2019. To ensure the
availability of numbers in the 909 area code region, the California Public
Utilities Commission (CPUC) has begun the process to consider the introduction
of a new area code to the geography now served by the 909 area code. Adding a
new area code to the 909 area code is known as an overlay, which was proposed
by the telecommunications service providers. The proposed overlay, pending
CPUC approval, will allow all existing customers to keep their current phone
numbers, including their 909 area code.

The Energy Division has prepared Draft Resolution E-4830 for the April 27, 2017, Commission Meeting. This Resolution addresses Pacific Gas and Electric Company’s request for approval of two Supplements to a Master Agreement for work required to interconnect PG&E’s transmission system with Caltrain Peninsula Corridor Electrification Project facilities.
