R E S O L U T I O N

RESOLUTION T-16538. CINCINNATI BELL LONG DISTANCE, INC.

(U-5707-C). REQUEST FOR VOLUNTARY REVOCATION OF CERTIFICATE OF PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY.

ADVICE LETTER NO. 9 FILED ON SEPTEMBER 1, 2000

_________________________________________________________________

SUMMARY

This resolution revokes the Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity of Cincinnati Bell Long Distance, Inc., as requested by the company.

BACKGROUND

Cincinnati Bell Long Distance, Inc. filed for its Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN) as a Nondominant Interexchange Carrier in Application 96-08-042. Authority was granted in Decision 96-12-045. The company filed its tariff on January 21, 1997, and the tariff became effective on January 22, 1997.

The company reports that it has no customers today.

DISCUSSION

The company filed Advice Letter No. 9 on September 1, 2000, in which it requested that its CPCN be revoked. There is no reason to deny this request since there are competitors in the long distance market.

The Telecommunications Division (TD) recommends that the request for revocation be granted and that the Utility Identification Number be cancelled. TD's Public Programs Branch has determined that the company's surcharge accounts have no unremitted balances.

This is an uncontested matter in which the resolution grants the relief requested. Accordingly, pursuant to PU Code Section 311(g)(2), the otherwise applicable 30-day period for public review and comment is being waived.

FINDINGS

1. Cincinnati Bell Long Distance, Inc. obtained its Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity in Decision 96-12-045.

2. The company requested that its CPCN be revoked in Advice Letter No. 9, which was filed on September 1, 2000.

3. The company's CPCN should be revoked and its Utility Identification Number should be cancelled.

THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED that:

1. The Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity formerly granted to Cincinnati Bell Long Distance, Inc. is revoked.

2. The company's Utility Identification Number (U-5707-C) is cancelled and will not be reissued.

This Resolution is effective today.

I hereby certify that this Resolution was adopted by the Public Utilities Commission at its regular meeting on July 12, 2001. The following Commissioners approved it:
