PUC HOLDS PUBLIC PARTICIPATION HEARINGS ON
THAMES WATER'S PROPOSED ACQUISITION
OF CALIFORNIA-AMERICAN WATER COMPANY
The California Public Utilities Commission (PUC) is holding Public Participation Hearings (PPHs) to solicit community feedback on Thames Water's (Thames) proposed stock acquisition of California-American Water Company's (Cal-Am) parent company, American Water Works Company. If approved, Thames would acquire all the stock of Cal-Am.
Thames and Cal-Am are not requesting changes in rates and are not seeking to recover any of the costs of the transaction in rates.
The public meeting schedule is as follows:
*Monterey Peninsula, June 4, 2002, 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., at Monterey Conference Center, One Portola Plaza
*Montara/Moss Beach, June 17, 2002, 7 p.m., at Farralone View Elementary School, Third and LeConte
*Thousand Oaks/Camarillo, June 20, 2002, 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., at Newbury Park High School Auditorium, 456 N. Reino Road, Newbury Park
*Sacramento, July 8, 2002, 7 p.m., at Sacramento Association of Realtors, 2003 Howe Ave., Sacramento

Comments may be sent via e-mail to public.advisor@cpuc.ca.gov. Please refer to A.02-01-036, include the nearest PPH location to your residence, and your address receiving water service in your comments.
