PUC RESCHEDULES PUBLIC MEETINGS ON PG&E'S REQUEST TO REBUILD THE JEFFERSON-MARTIN TRANSMISSION PROJECT

SAN FRANCISCO, November 5, 2003 - The California Public Utilities Commission (PUC) is rescheduling its Nov. 18 Public Participation Hearings (PPH) to receive comments on Pacific Gas & Electric Company's (PG&E) request to build the Jefferson-Martin project, which would be an upgrade of the current 60 kilovolt (kV) transmission line extending from south of Hillsborough to South San Francisco.

The PPHs scheduled for Nov. 18 have been rescheduled as follows:

PG&E is applying for Commission authorization to rebuild the existing Jefferson-Martin transmission line into a 230 kV line, including the construction of some underground sections and related facilities on new easements. The purpose is to improve the reliability of power supplies to the City of San Francisco as well as other communities in the vicinity.

The PPHs will be held in meeting rooms that are wheelchair accessible. Those who need special assistance such as sign language interpretation should contact the PUC Public Advisor's Office at least five days before the meeting at 1-866-849-8390 or 1-415-703-2074; TTY 1-866-836-7825 or 1-415-703-5282.

The PUC has scheduled the PPHs to hear the community's concerns and questions regarding PG&E's application.

Those who cannot attend may comment by e-mailing (include the proceeding number) or writing the Public Advisor:
