NEW PUC/CEC SOLAR WEBSITE UNVEILED BY GOVERNOR; ONE-STOP SOLAR INFORMATION CENTER FOR CONSUMERS
SAN FRANCISCO, October 19, 2006 -- Today at the Solar Power 2006 Conference and Expo in San Jose Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger unveiled a new state website from the California Public Utilities Commission (PUC) and the California Energy Commission, www.GoSolarCalifornia.ca.gov, reinforcing the state's dedication to solar power.
As part of Governor Schwarzenegger's Million Solar Roofs program, California has set a goal to create 3,000 megawatts of new, solar-produced electricity by 2017 - moving the state toward a cleaner energy future and helping lower the cost of solar systems for consumers.
GoSolarCalifornia is a one-stop information center for new or existing home owners, businesses, schools, public buildings, farms, and others to learn about solar power and how to Go Solar! The website offers information on solar energy, incentives offered by the state for the installation of solar power; how to easily apply for incentives; and, basic information on solar energy.
"The GoSolarCalifornia website reinforces the state's commitment to solar power," said PUC President Michael R. Peevey. "California leads the nation in aggressive policies that promote renewable power and decrease greenhouse gas emissions. The state is offering nearly $3 billion in incentives for consumers and businesses to invest in solar power. GoSolarCalifornia offers tools and information to streamline the solar process and educate on the benefits of this renewable resource."
