In compliance with Section 316.5 of the California Public Utilities Code, please find enclosed The Status of Telecommunications Competition in California for the Year 2002.
The Commission issued the first and prior report on June 5, 2002. The Commission expects to issue one additional report later this year as the Section 316.5 statute sunsets January 1, 2004. Legislation and funding is needed, should there be a desire for additional or follow-up analysis on the California telecommunications marketplace.
