Project Cost Caps

SB 585 states in Section 3 that:

Within 90 days of the enactment of this act, the Public Utilities Commission shall establish and impose project cost caps for residential and nonresidential projects under the California Solar Initiative, based on national and state installed cost data.

The Commission's Energy Division has already established project cost caps, as described in CSI Handbook Section 3.4.5. Currently, modifications to the CSI Handbook are handled by an advice letter process, with review by Energy Division. This decision affirms that any modifications to these already established CSI cost caps shall be handled through the modification of the CSI Handbook. Energy Division should continue to monitor national and state installed cost data and adjust the project cost caps as needed.
