O R D E R

IT IS ORDERED that:

1. Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), Sierra Pacific Power Company (Sierra Pacific), Pacific Power and Light, San Diego Gas & Electric Company (SDG&E), and Southern California Edison Company (Edison) shall file comments on the standards proposed herein no later than December 2, 1996. Other parties may file comments by that date.

2. PG&E, Sierra Pacific, SDG&E, and Edison shall file in a performance- based ratemaking proposed performance standards for maintaining, repairing, and replacing distribution system facilities no later than July 1, 1998.

3. The Administrative Law Judge Division through its Process Office shall effectuate service of this decision upon all electric utilities in California so that they

receive notice of our intent to initiate in the next stage of this proceeding standard setting for emergencies and disasters applicable to them.

This order is effective today.
