R E S O L U T I O N

RESOLUTION T-16304. NEXTCOM WORLDWIDE TELECOMMUNICATIONS, INC. (U-5986-C). REQUEST FOR VOLUNTARY REVOCATION OF CERTIFICATE OF PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY.

ADVICE LETTER NO. 4, FILED MARCH 16, 1999

SUMMARY

This resolution revokes the Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN) of Nextcom Worldwide Telecommunications, Inc., as requested by the company.

BACKGROUND

Nextcom Worldwide Telecommunications, Inc. filed for its CPCN as a nondominant interexchange carrier in Application 98-04-006 under the name NTC Acquisition, Inc. Authority was granted in Decision 98-05-030. The company filed its tariff on May 18, 1998, and the tariff became effective on May 19, 1998. The company currently has no customers.

DISCUSSION

Nextcom Worldwide Telecommunications, Inc. filed Advice Letter No. 4 on March 16, 1999, and therein requested that its CPCN be revoked. There is no reason to deny this request since there are numerous competitors in the long distance market.

Telecommunications Division recommends that the request for revocation be granted and that the company's Utility Identification Number be cancelled.

This is an uncontested matter in which the resolution grants the relief requested. Accordingly, pursuant to PU Code Section 311 (g)(2), the 30-day period for public review and comment is being waived.

FINDINGS

1. Nextcom Worldwide Telecommunications, Inc. obtained its Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity in Decision 98-05-030.

2. The company requested that its CPCN be revoked in its Advice Letter No. 4, filed on March 16, 1999.

3. The company's CPCN should be revoked and its Utility Identification Number should be cancelled.

THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED that:

1. The Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity granted to Nextcom Worldwide Telecommunications, Inc. is revoked.

2. The company's Utility Identification Number, U-5986-C, is revoked and will not be reissued.

This Resolution is effective today.
